BEST UNIVERSITIES OF SWEDEN

Young people around the world who dream of pursuing higher studies abroad, usually direct their attention to educational providers giants like the US, UK, Canada or Australia. However, there are excellent academic options in smaller European countries which, like buried treasure, are almost unknown. In fact, many of them are available in English; making them even more achievable than you might think. For example, most Swedish universities provide courses in English, and universities enjoy great international prestige.

Karolinska Institute

6) Royal Institute of Technology
This is one of the leading technical universities in Europe, and was founded in 1827 as the first Swedish Polytechnic Institute. It is located at No. 53 among the best houses of study of engineering and technology in the world, and is the only country to receive the "Center for Quality and Excellence in Higher Education in Computer Science.

7) Umea University
Founded in 1965, it is a relatively young university, considered one of the best in Sweden. The prestigious Times Higher Education 2012 ranking, which measures the academic quality of universities around the world, placed in position 23. It comprises four faculties (Arts, Medicine, Science and Technology, and Social Sciences), nine schools, 36 000 students registered, 4000 employees and 365 full-time professors.

8) University of Gothenburg
Founded in 1891, it is the third oldest house in the country and one of the largest studies. It has 57 departments; and about 25 thousand students make life in eight faculties where they receive courses in Creative Arts, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Humanities, Education, Information Technology, Business, Economics, Law and Health Sciences.

9) Stockholm School of Economics
Due to rapid industrial growth experienced in the early 20th century, this university emerged as a private initiative that sought to fill the labor demand well-educated men of business. According to media expert Financial Times, the Master in Management program is ranked 17th among all offered worldwide. Also, the Master of Science course is so popular, that in 2012 were received 3000 applications for only 261 150 vacancies.

10) Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences
Founded in 1977, it is the result of the merger of three schools of different specialties: Veterinary Medicine, Forestry and Agriculture; academic culture which dates back to the 17th century.
